Nathan Friedly was back in Pawnee City this week to lay the remembrance wreath at the Veterans Day program at Pawnee City High School Monday. “It's a great honor,” he said. Friedly is stationed at the naval base in Everett,  Washington. He is going out to sea for the first time when he goes to the Persian Gulf aboard the USS Monsen, a destroyer. “I'm ok with it,” he said. “I know why we're there.” He is an operation specialist working with radar and navigation. He works with the weapon systems on the ship. “I get to work with the latest technology,” he said. He enlisted out of Pawnee City High School after graduating last May. He plans on a career with the Navy, he said.
“I enlisted to serve my country. It's a great privilege and opportunity,” he said.
